Grants guide

Grants and funding for energy efficiency improvements and renewable technologies are available from government schemes and some local authorities.

Schemes may provide one energy efficiency measure or take a ‘whole house approach’ and install multiple measures.

Eligibility for government grants is generally based on:

  • The Energy Performance Certificate rating of your home.
  • Gross household income.

Other factors like health conditions are also considered. Renters, owner occupiers and private landlords can all access grants, with some variation in conditions for different tenures.

The grant schemes available and their eligibility criteria vary depending on where you live. Some areas have a ‘one stop shop’ which offers support throughout home retrofit, from initial advice, checking eligibility, assessment, planning installation to post installation support.

Contact your local authority or energy advice agency for more information.
